Enhance Operational Sustainability

Integrating energy-efficient hardware into blockchain nodes can significantly improve operational performance and sustainability. By selecting components designed for low power consumption and high processing efficiency, such as advanced GPUs, ASICs, or FPGAs, blockchain networks can achieve faster transaction processing and lower energy usage. This approach not only reduces operational costs but also aligns with global efforts to minimize the environmental footprint of technology infrastructures. The study “Improving Energy Efficiency of Permissioned Blockchains Using FPGAs” explores the use of Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) in enhancing the energy efficiency of blockchain validator nodes. The research demonstrates that incorporating FPGAs can improve energy efficiency by up to 10 times compared to traditional CPU-only configurations, achieving higher throughput while maintaining lower power consumption.
