Abstract

A fully compliant digital infrastructure that activates user data for improved mobility. This digital infrastructure consists of a publicly available digital infrastructure - Partisia Blockchain, as well as a privately deployed digital infrastructure - Partisia Platform. In combination, the two integrated digital platforms ensure trustworthy, compliant, robust and efficient operation. Partisia Blockchain is a neutral platform that provides the user with full control of identity, ownership and data activation. Partisia Platform is a neutral industry platform that matches all GDPR “data processor” and “data controller” requirements - a network that can be stepwise extended with more and more industry partners. The solution utilizes Multi-party Computation (MPC)  orchestrated by a private deployment of the Partisia Platform to activate data stored at different divisions within the automotive industry. 

The infrastructure for the self-sovereign identity system is built upon standards from the major standardization organizations within the area. That is, in particular it follows the W3C Data Model for VCs, OID4VCI, OID4VP, SD-JWTs, DIF Presentation Exchange and W3C DIDs (relying on Partisia Blockchain as a Verifiable Data Registry).

Value Proposition

This introduces a fully compliant digital infrastructure for activating user-centric data for short, medium and long run gains. For short and medium run gains, and focuses on the following subgoals:

  • Utilize user-centric data to further reduce the risks related to a manufacturer's financial offers of today.
  • Increase brand reputation by offering loyalty points and carbon offsets.  
  • Increase customer value by enabling customers to utilize their data between different divisions of an automotive manufacturer and increase the value of used cars. 

Identity Management

The infrastructure compasses Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), Verifiable Credentials (VC) and Verifiable Presentation (VP) to enable car owners and users to utilize data certified by partners in a self-sovereign manner. This increases the value for the individual customer as they will be able to prove the validity of the data they present to third parties and thereby potentially obtain advantages with this.

Data Provenance

The solution piggybacks on the automotive manufacturers' trustworthy information about their produced vehicles. Some of which are publicly available on the Public Partisia Blockchain and some of which are made available both on and offchain only through a multi-party computation orchestrated by the private deployment of the blockchain.

Token and asset creation and exchange

The solution introduces NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) for Digital Twin of cars, loyalty points, and for carbon offset. The benefits of this are twofold:
a. Adds transparency and trustworthiness to the data about a certain car and thereby increases the used-car value.
b. Allows users to freely trade loyalty points and thereby increase brand reputation.

Process optimisation

By leveraging the SSI where holders are able to prove ownership of a car, the car owners can utilize this information towards third-parties and thereby drastically optimize the processing time for certain uses. For example, an owner of car brand A can go to rent a car with cars from company A. Thereby, the user can document their driving habits as well as capability of driving such a car efficiently. Note that this can be done without the rental car company having to go through the extensive process of contacting the manufacturer and thereby learning information about this individual.
