ISO Technical Committee 307 on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies standards meeting in Valladolid
On June 4, 2024, Banco de España will host an exclusive event in Valladolid to explore the use of distributed ledger technologies (DLT) in the implementation and distribution of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC). This event coincides with the ISO Technical Committee (TC) 307's Plenary Meeting on Blockchain and DLT standards, taking place from June 3 to 7, 2024, and organized by the Spanish Technical Standards Association (UNE) along with Valladolid's City Hall, sponsored by the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA). INATBA, promoted by the European Commission, plays a crucial role in blockchain technology discussions and is committed to advancing blockchain applications in finance.
UNE, representing Spain in international standards bodies like ISO, emphasizes the importance of technical standards such as ISO 3166 (country codes), ISO 4217 (currency codes), and the ISO 20022 series (financial communications). A joint working group from ISO TC 307 and ISO TC 68 on Financial Services will meet in Valladolid to develop standards related to DLT and digital currencies, focusing on a unified vocabulary for CBDCs.
